Policy for Teaching Faculties
1. Appointment & Service Conditions
- Faculty members are appointed as per AICTE/GTU norms.
- Initial appointment is on a probationary basis for two year, extendable based on performance.
- Confirmation of service is subject to satisfactory performance and adherence to institutional policies.
2. Working Hours & Attendance
- Monday to Thursday & Saturday: 08:20 AM to 03:00 PM
- Friday: 08:20 AM to 02:00 PM
- Sunday is a weekly OFF for all teaching and non-teaching staff.
- Holidays will be observed as per GTU's Academic Calendar & Government Notifications.
- Attendance must be marked daily through the biometric system.
- All faculty members must also sign the attendance register (muster) daily
- Late arrival or early departure beyond permissible limits may result in leave deductions.
3. Duties & Responsibilities
- Deliver lectures as per the GTU syllabus and ensure effective teaching.
- Conduct internal assessments, evaluations, and student mentoring.
- Engage in curricular & extracurricular activities, faculty development programs, and institutional development activities.
- Participate in NBA accreditation, GSIRF ranking, and other quality initiatives.
- Serve in institutional committees as assigned.
- Actively participate in cultural activities and events organized by the institute.
4. Institutional Committees
Faculty members are required to actively serve in at least one of the following committees:
- Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC)
- Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC)
- Grievance Redressal Committee
- Anti-ragging Committee
- Anti-ragging Squad
- SC-ST Cell
- Internal Complaint Committee (IC)
- Program Assessment and Quality Improvement Committee (PAQIC)
- Training & Placement Cell
- Maintenance & Purchase Committee
- Sports Committee
- Cultural Committee
- Women in Development (WID) Cell
- NBA Coordinators
- Students Counsellors
- Industry-Institute Interaction Cell
- Equal Opportunity Facilities Cell (EOF)
- Social Media Cell
Faculty must actively contribute to their assigned committee and submit periodic reports.
5. Participation in Cultural Activities
- Faculty members are expected to encourage and guide students in cultural programs.
- Assist in organizing annual cultural festivals, competitions, and celebrations.
- Participation in Independence Day, Republic Day, Teacher’s Day, and other cultural events is mandatory.
- Faculty should mentor student clubs related to music, drama, dance, arts, and literature.
- Participation in inter-college cultural competitions is encouraged.
6. GTU Examination Duties
All faculty members must perform GTU Examination Duties, including:
- Junior Supervision – Invigilation duty during GTU theory exams.
- Senior Supervision – Managing and monitoring exam arrangements.
- GTU Observer – Sent to other colleges as an external observer for GTU exams.
- Examiner & Paper Evaluation – Checking answer sheets and result preparation.
- Viva/Practical Examination – Conducting internal and external viva/practical assessments.
- Mandatory Duty – No leave will be granted during GTU examination duty unless in exceptional cases with prior approval.
7. Leave Policy
- Earned Leave (EL): Credited at a ratio of 3:1 for staff present during summer vacation.
- Casual Leave (CL): 12 days per year, subject to prior approval.
- Medical Leave (ML)/Sick Leave: 10 days per year, granted on submission of a medical certificate if taken for more than 2 consecutive days.
- Special Leave: For conferences, FDPs, or training programs.
- Public Holidays: As per GTU's official holiday notification and Government norms.
- Unauthorized Absence: Will be considered as Leave Without Pay (LWP).
8. Code of Conduct
- Faculty must adhere to GTU, AICTE, and institute policies.
- Maintain academic integrity and professional behaviour.
- Avoid any form of discrimination, harassment, or unethical behaviour.
- Personal use of mobile phones during class hours is prohibited.
9. Appraisal & Promotion
- Performance is evaluated annually based on:
- Teaching effectiveness
- Research and publications
- Student feedback
- Contributions to institutional activities
- Promotions and salary increments are based on performance and management discretion.
10. Resignation & Termination
- Faculty must provide one-month notice or salary in lieu thereof if resigning.
- Termination of service may occur due to:
- Misconduct or violation of institutional policies.
- Poor performance or failure to meet academic standards.
- Institutional restructuring or management decisions.
- Engagement in any criminal case or being found guilty by the court.
11. Additional Responsibilities
- Faculty may be assigned additional duties such as:
- Examination coordination
- Student counselling
- Sports and cultural event management
- Participation in the Innovation & Incubation Cell (IIC) activities
